01 — READY-MADE
Ready-made garments, with your brand
We start from base garments that are already produced — T-shirts, sweatshirts, knitwear, shirts and trousers — and turn them into your product with embroidery, prints, labels, tags and packaging.
The garment already exists, so there's no pattern to build: development is light, lead times are short and costs are lower.
The right route to launch a brand, test the market or work with a tight budget.
02 — BUILT FROM SCRATCH
A garment that's yours alone
The garment starts from your technical sheet or your references: pattern, fabric, fit and finishing are designed for you. It's the Made in Italy route, with Italian fabrics, for anyone after a unique, recognisable product.
It takes more time, more work and adequate quantities, but the result is a garment no one else has.

Six steps, always the same, whichever route you choose.

We start from the retail price
Before we talk costs, we ask what price you'll sell the garment at and how much you want to make on it. From there we work out what production can cost and which of the two routes makes sense for you. It's the opposite of how almost everyone works, and it's what saves you from surprises.

The research
A serious quote isn't written at a desk. It's built by going to the right workshops, explaining the project and having it priced, sourcing the fabrics and materials that fit and the documents you need to sell, such as certifications when they're required.

Development
With ready-made, development is choosing the base garment and defining the personalisation: position and size of the embroidery or print, labels, colours. Built from scratch it includes:
the base pattern, built on your technical sheet;
the size study, where each additional size is developed from the base pattern;
the first prototype.
Development is always quoted as a separate item, apart from the per-piece price.

The sample garment
This is when the project becomes a real garment, to touch and to try on.
With ready-made, the sample is the base garment with your personalisation applied.
Built from scratch, the first sample is made in size S. It is tried on, corrected and, if needed, a second sample is made. The other sizes are developed only after approval.
The sample is paid for separately and in advance, because it is real work: cutting, making, fitting and corrections.
Only once the sample is approved for fit, fabric and finishing do we move to production.

Production
Production is quoted by quantity. Development and the sample have a fixed cost that spreads across the pieces produced: the more pieces you make, the lower the cost per piece.
At this stage we also agree the brand label, the composition and care label, tags and packaging.

Real numbers, not promises
Minimum quantities, costs and lead times are given by our specialists after they have seen the project and spoken to the workshops. A number given without that work is a number that changes. Ours doesn't.

Frequently asked questions
What is private label?
It means the garment carries the client's brand, not ours. The client brings the project, LUX LAB follows the path from prototype to delivery and hands over finished garments labelled with the client's own name.
What is the minimum quantity?
There is no standard minimum. The MOQ depends on the garment, on the work involved and above all on the fabric, because yarn is itself bought with minimums. It is set in the quotation.
Do you start from a sketch or from an existing garment?
Either. A sketch with a technical sheet, or a sample garment to copy or adapt. The first step is the quotation, then the pattern and the prototype.
Which fabrics can you produce in?
Viscose, cotton, linen, silk, wool and knitwear are checked at quotation stage: availability, minimums and lead times change from fabric to fabric. We can also work on a fabric supplied by the client.
Are labels with my brand included?
They are part of the quotation: brand label, the composition and care labels required by law, swing tags and finishing.
Who actually carries out production?
An affiliated textile company in the Prato district and, where the process requires it, specialist workshops in the chain. LUX LAB is not a factory: it directs the work and remains the single contact.
Can I visit the workshop?
Yes, by appointment. The operating office is in Prato, inside the textile district.
